SOU Film Club

Who is the SOU film club? We're a group of diverse students who have a passion for storytelling through motion pictures! Though many of us are Communication or emdA majors, students from any study will are welcome to join! The mission of the Film Club is to organize special screening events, the SOU Student Film Festival, bring in guest speakers to campus, offer production workshops, lobby for more film-related courses, and more! What does the club do? Just as we are a diverse group of students, the activities we do are diverse as well! We have movie nights at the local movie theaters, film slam nights, workshops at the Digital Media Center, and our big project this year is hosting the Student Film Festival at the Varsity Theater! The beauty of a club is it functions to become what YOU want it be! We listen to our members, then budget and plan accordingly. That's why it's important to regularly attend meetings: build relationships with other members and have your voice heard! Where does the club meet? We meet at the Digital Media Center, which is a (very) short walk from McLoughlin Residence Hall, McNeil Pavillion, or the Outdoor Program! When does the club meet? For fall term, we meet at 4:00pm in the DMC on Fridays. Why should I join? You should join if you love storytelling. You don't need to be a filmmaking freak, but you should be curious, coachable, and generous with your own ideas. We are building a group of fellow filmmakers, actors, writers, and more who are EXCITED to learn and work together in a fun and friendly environment that continues to foster filmmaking opportunities in Oregon!
