Water and High Voltage: Concentrated electrolyte solutions and their use in batteries

The lithium-ion batteries that power many of our devices are hazardous because of their flammable solvents. Water isn’t used in these batteries because the voltage would split it into hydrogen and oxygen gases. However, a new category of water-based solutions can be used at high voltages. We’ll learn about these interesting liquids and how we’ll study them at SOU.
