View map Free EventSouthern Oregon University will host the first annual 2023 SOU High School Choir Invitational this fall. They will perform a FREE CONCERT Friday, October 20 at 4:00PM at the SOU Music Recital Hall.
SOU will host North and South Medford High School Choirs. Dr. Jerron Jorgensen, SOU's Director of Choral Studies together with our SOU voice faculty members Dr. Christi McLain, Madeline Abel-Kerns, and Christine Williams will host workshops with the students for a day of music making and fellowship in the SOU Music Building. Each student will get to work individually with our outstanding faculty and our guest clinician Dr. Jace Saplan, Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor at Arizona State University.
This event is made possible by a grant from the Joe and Frances Naumes Foundation to make this dream a reality.
Each high school choir will perform, and the day will culminate with a free concert at 4pm on the stage of the SOU Music Recital Hall. Over 100 voices will combine to perform Susan LaBarr's "Where the Light Begins." This song is overflowing with themes of peace, hope, and joy.
