Award-winning Pianist Chuan Choy is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at Southern Oregon University under the tutelage of Dr. Alexander Tutunov, after earning his Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, at the Fred Fox School of Music, University of Arizona. Chuan was inspired to pursue his degree in piano performance when he was an audience member in a piano competition in which he later became a prize-winner. His teachers include Drs. Fanya Lin, John Milbauer, and Ian Houghton. As a pedagogue, Chuan strives to help students to discover the joy and nuance of piano playing. Besides running his own private teaching studio, he is currently a graduate assistant in SOU where he collaborates with Chamber Choir and assists with group piano class. Chuan has performed in masterclasses by Jon Nakamatsu, Anthony de Mare, Michael Stephen Brown, etc. Upon graduation, Chuan plans to share his music experience through applied lessons and outreach programs for communities in need locally and abroad.
