High School Honor Band Weekend

The SOU Honor Band Festival is an annual unique musical experience for high school music students across Southern Oregon. The program was inspired by the idea of giving students a  sampling of what auditioning, studying, and performing music is like at SOU. Similar festivals are offered to high school vocal and percussion students each year at SOU. Honor Band takes place Friday December 2- Sunday, December 4th.

Last year's concert features the top 65 music students representing 10 local high schools, including Ashland,Crater, Grants Pass, Hidden Valley, Illinois Valley, North and South Medford, and Phoenix High Schools.

Students who participate in the festival attend the Spectrum Concert (a sampling of music ensembles at SOU), lunch and tour of the university campus, instrumental studio clinics, elective music classes, and spend time rehearsing challenging repertoire, that culminates in this  SOU Honor Band concert for parents and the SOU Community. Directed by Dr. Christine Lundahl.

The SOU Honor Band Concert is Sunday, December 4th from Noon-1pm and is free and open to the students, families, and friends of Honor Band Participants and the SOU Community. No ticket is needed. Livestream link: https://youtu.be/l_G07ip8qo0
