Join us for a free performance on Thursday, October 10th from 1:20-3:30pm. The afternoon performance will feature Percussion duo Skin & Bones as they present a free clinic: Improvisation & Composition as a Duo," in the Music Recital Hall at SOU. The performance is free and open to the public to observe.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Dynamic percussion duo Skin & Bones is known for its exciting and engaging performances utilizing an arsenal of exotic, found and newly created instruments. Whether generating ambidextrous jazz on vibes and marimba, collaborating with visual artists and choreographers, or hammering out polyrhythmic textures on “junk” one might find in Dr. Seuss’s garage, Skin & Bones excites audiences of all ages.

Percussionists Terry Longshore and Brett Reed blend a multitude of styles into the sound of Skin & Bones. In their compositions and improvisations one can hear the influences of jazz, rock, pop, Indian, African, minimalism and new music; in the end the fusion of these elements reveals an original and invigorating music.

Formed in 1994, Skin & Bones has appeared on numerous stages throughout the U.S. and Mexico, and has been featured at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). Skin & Bones can be heard on their critically acclaimed album, Boom, and on their forthcoming release, Mixmaster.
