Equity Roundtable: Addressing Systemic Racism, a Conversation with Law Enforcement

The last Equity Roundtable of the year will focus on addressing the national coverage of systemic racism and how local law enforcement are responding, as well as what can be done in the coming year to co-create a different experience in the Rogue Valley. Come listen to a panel of local law enforcement representatives, on May 13th, 12:30-1:30 PM to discuss the changes they have taken on, and at the end we’ll all share ideas for what can be done at SOU to promote a sense of safety. This event will be facilitated by student leader Stasie Maxwell and SOU Communication Program faculty member Erica Knotts.

The student leaders organizing this event would like to give their fellow SOU students an opportunity to anonymously share about their experiences with law enforcement officers. If you are an SOU student that has had an interaction with law enforcement where officers behaved in a racist manner, either implicitly or explicitly, or had an experience that left you feeling anxious, unsafe, or traumatized, we invite you to fill out this form. Responses will remain anonymous, and will be compiled and shared with the panelists before the event. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeYe0ALfCLNCefxt_NEkFmabR22uk0fpjf5bR0mXmErdBQj5A/viewform
