Hailed as “the future of chamber music” (Strings), the veteran string quartet Brooklyn Rider presents eclectic repertoire and gripping performances that continue to draw rave reviews from classical, world, and rock critics alike. NPR credits Brooklyn Rider with “recreating the 300-year-old form of string quartet as a vital and creative 21st-century ensemble.”
Martin Hayes’ soulful interpretations of traditional Irish music are recognized the world over. He has collaborated with extraordinary musicians in the classical, folk and contemporary music worlds, has performed on stage with Sting and Paul Simon, and recently recorded with Yo Yo Ma's Silk Road Project. He performed for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities for President Obama and dignitaries both at the White House and House of Representatives.
Legendary Irish fiddler Martin Hayes and the ever-omnivorous string quartet Brooklyn Rider join forces for an unforgettable evening of music grounded in the Irish tradition. Drawing material from their upcoming collaborative album, this one-of-a-kind union dives headlong into innovative arrangements of traditional tunes from Colin Jacobsen, Kyle Sanna, Ljova, and Dana Lyn.
