This concert will investigate how Jazz music has naturally evolved since its inception while simultaneously  influencing other forms of art music. “Third Stream” music is understood by musicologists to be the incorporation of popular art forms, like Jazz, in pieces by composers of a variety of musical mediums. The Jazz Band will lead the audience through a chronological progression of Jazz styles during the first half of the concert. After the intermission, the Wind Ensemble will feature composers who actively incorporate modern, popular music forms into their works.
