Please Note: Body is an Opening Performance that is only intended to last five to ten minutes.

Appreciation and admiration for her body has always been an inspiration and a simple statement against the exploiting system of capitalism for Nani. She has spent most of her life with the idea that she is already too old, too slow, too tall, too dyslexic, and too ‘not enough.’ With this, Nani hopes to bring the joy and wonder that she feels from being a human to her audience to spark both curiosity and discovery.

Nani Ola Pacal received her BA in Dance and pursued an internship at the Tanzakademie Cifuentes in Berlin, Germany. In addition to co-founding the Fusion Dance Group, Omi Mahina, she also studied Circus Arts in San Francisco, California, while working, training, and performing at Circus Connections. At the age of 27, Nani took her first contortion class and fell in love with it. Since then, she has been a Contortionist for the Afro House Band, Jambalaya, since 2016, and she is currently based in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where she teaches Flexibility.

Content Warning: Themes of death and heavy alcohol usage.

El Regalo is a one act play that centers around four latina women dealing with the mysterious gift that was passed down to them through their family. The play explores grief, guilt, love, family, death, the magic of the afterlife, and the divine feminine energy that facilitates magic here on Earth.

Magdalena del Castillo is the playwright and director of El Regalo. While this is only the second play that she has written, Magdalena has also been an actor, director, costume designer, sound designer, and technical director. She is extremely excited to see her words come to life on stage, especially because this play was inspired by true events in her own life.
